How physiotherapy works

Assessment first, then a plan built around you

Every course of treatment starts with a full assessment of what is causing your problem. We then agree a plan with you, usually built around exercise and hands-on treatment, with advice to help you manage at home. We work with local GPs and consultants where needed, and you do not need a referral to book.

What we offer

Our services and prices

Physiotherapy

Assessment, exercise and hands-on treatment for back and neck pain, sports injuries and joint problems. An initial assessment and treatment (up to 45 minutes) costs £80, follow-up treatment (up to 30 minutes) £65 and a 1-hour session £130. About physiotherapy.

Shockwave therapy

For some long-standing tendon and heel problems, such as plantar fasciitis, usually after other treatment has not helped. NICE has looked at shockwave therapy and found no major safety concerns, but says the evidence on how well it works is mixed. Assessment with 3 sessions £390, 3 sessions £310, additional session £110. About shockwave therapy.

Electrotherapy

Treatments such as TENS, interferential, ultrasound, laser and short-wave diathermy, used selectively as a short-term aid alongside exercise. For several common conditions NICE advises against them, and we will tell you if they are unlikely to help. About electrotherapy.

Home visits

A physiotherapist can come to you in selected West London postcodes, by prior arrangement, for £130 per visit. Call 020 8566 4113 to check whether we cover your area. Read our home visit guide.

Sports massage

A 30-minute sports massage costs £65. Read about sports massage.

Prices and insurance

Our bookings page carries the live fee schedule. CK Physiotherapy is recognised by BUPA, AXA PPP, WPA, Groupama and Life UK; cover varies, so please check with your insurer before your first appointment.

Techniques we may use

Depending on your problem: manipulation or mobilisation of joints, soft tissue massage, exercise therapy (stretching, strengthening and core stability), acupuncture, heat or cold therapy, biomechanical analysis, and education with home exercises.

Bryan is definitely the go-to physio whenever I’ve had problems. After bilateral frozen shoulders, it’s thanks to him that I’ve got full movement back. He’s also sorted out various back and neck issues. He’s got me back playing sports and skiing again. Thanks
